Costa Smeralda, offering more than 80 miles of territory, is one of the most prestigious and exclusive areas of the Mediterranean. The development of this area started in 1961 by Prince Karim Aga Khan. He came to an unfamiliar area, named “Monte di Mola” and was fascinated by the beautiful deserted beaches and completely unspoiled nature. He then decided to found the consortium Costa Smeralda.
It was the start of an important change, which transformed this coastal area of Gallura and established the new identity and new image of Sardinia in the world. Today Porto Cervo is the beating heart of Costa Smeralda; luxury hotels surrounded by wild Mediterranean beauty, a wonderful sea, the best navy in the Mediterranean, the home of the most prestigious designer boutiques in the world, the meeting place of the international jet set, a paradise forsailing and golf.
